About the maker

Andy Lassner — turning bowls, one block at a time.

A lidded walnut turning made in the workshop

I'm Andy Lassner. I started Woodturned By Andy after falling for the quiet rhythm of the lathe. What began as an evenings-and- weekends hobby in the corner of my backyard has grown into a small workshop where every piece I sell is still made by my own two hands.

I turn every bowl, platter, and lidded box one at a time from hardwoods I source locally — walnut, cherry, maple, oak, and the occasional lucky find. I look for pieces with real character: interesting grain, spalting, natural edges — and I let the wood decide the final shape on the lathe.

My finishes are simple and food-safe — natural oils and waxes that protect the wood while still letting it feel like wood. I make these pieces to be used, and to age beautifully with the people who own them.

Small-batch on purpose

I make what I can make well.

Because I turn everything myself, availability comes and goes. I add pieces as I finish them — if something catches your eye or you have an idea for a commission, get in touch.
